Best Bluetooth speakers still hold a close and dear place in our hearts, even as we’ve seen better (and more portable) smart speakers permeate the universe.

It’s fun and easy to ask an Amazon Echo or Google Nest speaker to play your favorite track or tell you about the weather, but smart speakers have a few crutches – most notably, stable Wi-Fi. By (mostly) ditching voice assistants and Wi-Fi radio, Bluetooth speakers are portable, able to go outside your home and withstand harsh environments like a sandy beach or an Airbnb steam hot tub. They will also work with any smartphone and sound just as good as their smart speaker counterparts.
