You wear face mask or not? The U.S. Centers for Disease Control (CDC) is currently offering guidance that if you live in a community with moderate to high levels of Covid-19, you should continue wear a suitable mask or respirator (you can check local levels here). However, the Kraken variant is still spreading, and colds and flu continue to circulate. Local authorities may also require the wearing of masks.
A good face mask is an essential tool to help slow the spread of Covid-19. We equip our children and adapt our methods as new, the scienceappear based on recommendations. Here are some of the masks and disguise techniques that I and others at WIRED use. Wear a mask, but remember to stay home whenever possible, increase indoor ventilation, get tested regularly, and stay at least six feet away from others in public places (preferably outdoors).
How do we choose masks?
Materials Testing Organization ASTM International also recently published world’s first manufacturing standards about what constitutes a good face covering in the workplace. Based on these recommendations, the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health now recommends that if you go to the office, use a mask that meets safety requirements. This manufacturer list who themselves reported that their masks now comply with new workplace regulations based on their own testing. It is important to note here that these masks are for non-medical use and if you are at high risk or protecting a high risk individual we still recommend N95. Surgical masks follow separate ASTM standard. Generally speaking, reusable cloth masks are less effective, but make sure any mask you wear is recommended principles from CDC, fits well and is clean.
